A man was arrested Thursday in connection to a kidnapping in Bloomington.

According to Bloomington Police, officers were called to the 1300 block of East 78th Street at 2:42 a.m. on a welfare check of a woman asking for help.

There, officers talked with a man who refused to answer the door or allow them to check on the welfare of the woman. He also wouldn't let the woman leave, police said.

After a standoff that lasted several hours, officers were able to safely reunite the 42-year-old woman with her family.

The suspect, a 37-year-old North Dakota man, was arrested and taken to jail on charges of kidnapping and violating a domestic assault no contact order, police said.

No other information is available at this time.
