Minneapolis City Council approves George Perry Floyd Jr. Place as commemorative name for portion of Chicago Avenue

The Minneapolis City Council voted Friday to add the commemorative street name of George Perry Floyd Jr. Place to a portion of Chicago Avenue.

City to vote on renaming part of avenue near Floyd memorial

The name will be used for the section of Chicago Avenue that runs from 37th Street East to 39th Street East.

Chicago Avenue and 38th Street East was the location where Floyd died while being taken into custody by police on Memorial Day.
