Man dies in shooting in Minneapolis; 41st homicide of the year

A man is dead after he was shot Saturday evening in the Ventura Village neighborhood of Minneapolis.

Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder said officers responded to a report of a shooting around 5:24 p.m. on the 1500 block of East 19th Street. When officers arrived, they found an adult male victim who had had been shot. He had no pulse and was not breathing.

First responders administered CPR, and the victim was then taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, Elder said.

No suspects are in custody at this time.

This is the 41st homicide in Minneapolis this year, almost double the total at this time in 2019, Elder said.
