Ben Henry

Reporting the news for the community I grew up in has been the biggest honor of my career. I look forward to sharing stories that matter to Minnesotans (and a small sliver of western Wisconsinites) as I continue my work as a journalist.

Previous Experience
Ben began reporting for KSTP 5 Eyewitness News in November 2019. Before joining the team, he worked for a few years in sunny Florida - he anchored and reported the news for WBBH and WZVN in Fort Myers (and went to plenty of Twins Spring Training games). There, he won an Associated Press award - getting honored as 'Best MMJ' in 2019. He's not a stranger to the Hubbard Broadcasting family - Ben also worked as a reporter for KSTP's sister station, KAAL, in Rochester, MN for a couple years out of college.
A 2010 graduate of Robbinsdale Armstrong High School, Ben grew up in New Hope. Following high school, he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism, from St. Cloud State University. Ben anchored many newscasts for St. Cloud's UTVS - he also hosted intermissions of SCSU hockey games for Husky Productions. Throughout both high school and college, Ben also played lacrosse - if you see him on a run, he’ll likely have his lacrosse stick in hand!
Memorable Stories
Some of his most memorable stories happened during his station's storm coverage of Hurricane Irma, while working in Fort Myers. Helping prepare the community for the hurricane and then broadcasting the efforts to recover were some of the best moments of his career.
Personal Interests
Ben is beyond happy to be back home! He can finally dust off his ice skates to play pond hockey. When the ice thaws, he'll be cruising the shoreline on the pontoon at his cabin in Annandale. Spending time with friends and family is a big part of Ben's life. He's an uncle for the first time and can't wait to watch his nephew grow up!
