1 dead in single-vehicle rollover crash in Dunn County, victim identified

UPDATE: The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as 87-year-old Frank Newton, of rural Colfax.


A person died on Saturday after a single-vehicle rollover crash in Dunn County, Wisconsin.

According to the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, at 6 p.m., deputies responded to a one-vehicle rollover with unknown injuries in the 7700 block of County Highway M in the Town of Colfax.

Upon arrival at the scene, authorities located the person and attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful. The Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Officer responded to the scene and pronounced the person as dead.

The police stated that the initial crash investigation shows a Subaru SUV was northbound on County Highway M when the driver of the vehicle lost control while negotiating a curve, causing the vehicle to roll over multiple times. The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

The driver’s identity is not being released due to the pending notification of the family.
