Shovels and snowblowers got their work in Sunday.

Most of the state saw a few inches of snow dumped on them throughout Saturday night and into the early Sunday morning.

Many spent the day digging out, but Cathy Bell took advantage of the snow to do some cross country skiing in St. Paul along the Mississippi River.

"I’m excited to see snow," Bell said. "I always think if we’re going to be in Minnesota we might as well have some snow it makes it so much prettier."

Because of the snow, both Minneapolis and St. Paul have snow emergencies in effect starting Sunday evening.
