The Minnesota Twins announced on Tuesday that starting pitcher Homer Bailey has been reinstated from the 45-day injured list and is scheduled to start Tuesday night's matchup against the Detroit Tigers at Target Field.

The 34-year-old missed 51 games with right biceps tendinitis and made just one start, his first with the team after signing as a free agent in the offseason, before going on the injured list. Bailey pitched five innings, allowing two runs on four hits with two walks and four strikeouts in the Twins' home opener against the St. Louis Cardinals on July 28.

Bailey was originally placed on the 10-day injured list on Aug. 2 and was transferred to the 45-day injured list on Aug. 22.

To make room for Bailey on Minnesota's roster, the team optioned pitcher Sean Poppen to the alternate training site in St. Paul. Poppen has posted a 4.70 ERA and 10 strikeouts in six appearances this season.
