Concordia-St. Paul men’s hoops excited to be able to play

The Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears men’s basketball team plays its first game on January 2, against Minnesota Crookston. In preparation for the game, the team held practice Saturday morning at Gangelhoff Center.

Golden Bears’ first year head coach Matt Fletcher is thankful to be able to play, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He sair that the team is excited to play, but realizes that even though the games are scheduled, who knows what will happen.

Fletcher was hired in April. He says the interview process was done in his recliner, making it quite unique. But, he is still focused on getting the program back on track, following a 9-18 record last year.

Senior guard Carlos Barela is also thankful to be able to play his final year. He was worried about the being able to play, but now is excited to get the Golden Bears to the playoffs.
