Regan Smith graduates from Lakeville North in a few weeks. After that, the plan was for the two-event swimming world record holder to take a shot at qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics. The plan is still in place, it's just pushed a little farther out.

Smith burst onto the world swimming scene with her record-setting performances at the World Championships last year.
She was considered a favorite not just to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, but also to contend for a gold medal or two.
As the 2020 Games were postponed into 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, Smith reset her goals. Now, after high school graduation, she'll focus on beginning her freshman year at Stanford University in the fall, while also training to take her Olympic shot next year.
