No. 8 Hill-Murray boys hockey shutout No. 4 Benilde-St. Margaret’s

The No. 8 Hill-Murray Pioneers boys hockey team defeated the No. 4 Benilde-St. Margaret’s Red Knights 5-0, Saturday night at the St. Louis Park Rec Center.

After a scoreless first period, the Pioneers were able to strike first when junior defenseman Alex Begley found senior Triston Tabucol for a breakaway goal to put Hill-Murray up 1-0 with 3:05 left in the second period.

Later in the second, Hill-Murray was able to add another goal when senior Hunter Laschinger and Tabucol assisted senior forward Max Zupfer to put the Pioneers up 2-0 with 1:02 left in the period.

In the third, Hill-Murray extended their lead when senior forward Nick Mountain deflected the shot of senior defenseman Joe Palodichuk into the back of the net, making it 3-0 Pioneers with 12:56 left in the game.

Not even two minutes later, Palodichuk assisted senior forward Jared Jensen to make it 4-0 Hill-Murray with 11:02 left in the game.

Hill-Murray added another goal, which was more than enough for junior goaltender Nick Erickson, who got himself a shutout in the 5-0 win. Hill-Murray improves to 11-2 on the year.
