Farmington beats St. Michael-Albertville 78-59 in Class 4A semifinals

Number two seeded Farmington (29-2) led by nine at the half and then withstood a strong second half push beating St. Michael-Albertville 78-59 and advancing to Saturday nights championship game against defending champion Hopkins.

The Knights fought back to tie the game at 44-44 with just under 11 minutes to play, but the Tigers began to pull away and steadily increased the margin. Farmington shot 49% from the field and out-rebounded the Knights by a 41-25 margin. Now Farmington has a rematch with Hopkins who beat them 77-52 back on Dec. 7.

The Tigers had five players in double figures led by juniors Peyton Blandin with 22 points and Sophie Hart added 21. St. Michael-Albertville got 27 points from freshman Tessa Johnson.
