Minneapolis experiencing cyberattacks amid civil unrest

The city of Minneapolis is experiencing cyberattacks amid the civil unrest in the Twin Cities, according to a Minneapolis City Council member.

Linea Palmisano told KSTP Gov. Tim Walz and the city's Information Technology Department have confirmed to her that the city is experiencing cyberattacks, more than likely to make communications more difficult. However, Palmisano said she hasn't been given an official briefing and isn't sure who the groups are or how many there are attacking the city.

She added that both state and city officials are working to prevent the attacks and figure out where they are coming from.

Some of those changes, such as prompts to prove you're not a robot, may already be visible to users who go to the city's website. Palmisano said those are for protection.
