Metro Transit to enforce passenger limit on light rail after Twins home opener

Metro Transit says it will meter passengers at the Target Field light rail station after the Twins’ home opener Thursday.

According to a Metro Transit spokeswoman, capacity on each three-car train leaving Target Field will be capped at 99 passengers — 33 per car.

The limit of 33 passengers per car is consistent with Metro Transit’s new occupancy limit of 50% that went into effect on Monday. Previously, COVID-19 restrictions allowed only 25% capacity on light rail cars.

Face masks and social distancing between passengers are still required, Metro Transit said.
