Memorial Blood Centers offering chances for free State Fair tickets to donors

With an ongoing shortage of blood and platelet donations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, donors now have a chance to win free tickets to the Minnesota State Fair.

Memorial Blood Centers says all donors through Aug. 26 will now be entered for a daily chance to win tickets to the Great Minnesota Get-Together to help encourage people to donate.

More than 50% of the blood supply was lost when community blood drives were canceled due to the pandemic, MBC said, and supply remains low for all blood types. As blood drives are resuming, additional precautions are being taken at all sites, and appointments are encouraged to help maintain social distancing. Masks are also required.

MBC also has a COVID-19 self-screening policy.
