A Minneapolis man's bail was set Friday afternoon in connection to a fatal Minneapolis shooting last month.

Dontae White, 23, had his bail set at $1 million. He is charged with second-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm in connection to the death of 27-year-old Kevin Beasley on April 18.

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office said White was arrested in Chicago and extradited to Minnesota late last week, three weeks after charges against him were filed and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

According to a criminal complaint, Beasley and his roommate, who lived near 11th and Irving avenues, were planning a party at the home. Around midnight, White and two other men showed up but were told to come back later because the party hadn't started. They later returned.

However, during the party, Beasley had a gun and confronted one of the men that came with White about being at the party. The other man that came with White was standing nearby with a gun in his hand and when Beasley turned to say something to his girlfriend, shots were fired and Beasley fell to the floor, the complaint states.

The attorney's office said several people ran out of the house but the shooter came back and fired at Beasley again. Surveillance cameras showed White and the two other men running from the area to a car parked on Irving Avenue. Police later recovered a jacket thrown onto a garage by White and a semi-automatic handgun placed under a fence on James Avenue.

The complaint states testing of the gun found it fired the 9mm discharged cartridge cases found around Beasley's body. DNA from a hat that was in the coat White allegedly tossed onto the garage matched White's DNA and DNA found on the gun.

White has a violent criminal history, including a first-degree assault conviction from June 2015, the attorney's office noted.

White's next court appearance is set for June 17.
