Isle Royale National Park seasonal opening delayed, no ferry transportation

The seasonal opening of Isle Royale National Park has been delayed "until further notice," park officials announced Wednesday.

According to officials, the decision to delay the opening was made based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the White House and Michigan state officials in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, park officials said the park will not provide ferry transportation this summer.

Meanwhile, Rock Harbor Lodge — including overnight lodging, dining, marina services, gift shops and stores — will remain closed for the season.

Park officials said they will reevaluate the decision to offer park access in late June or early July.
