George Floyd star appears outside First Avenue

A star commemorating George Floyd has appeared outside First Avenue in downtown Minneapolis.

The star dedicated to Floyd is red — all of the other iconic stars that adorn the outer walls of the music hall are silver — and is bordered by Motörhead on the left, Joe Cocker on the right and stage manager Conrad Sverkerson above.

It’s unclear whether the music venue or someone else painted the star.

First Avenue’s wall of stars feature the names of famous artists that have come through the venue. And while Floyd may not have performed there, he did have a music career at one point.

Floyd became a rapper in the 1990s when he lived in Houston. He performed under the name Big Floyd alongside members of the Screwed Up Click and legendary hip-hop producer DJ Screw.
