Severe weather damage assessments continue next week

Storm damage assessment teams will continue their work next week in Minnesota.

According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS), teams from the agency, as well as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be verifying eligible costs for damage to public infrastructure and public response since April 22.

Team members will be reviewing the damage, determining if it exceeds local and state resources and including estimates for repair costs.

Initial assessments from DPS’ Homeland Security and Emergency Management division are projecting eligible expenses will be more than $27 million, more than three times the state’s indicator for public assistance, which is $9.3 million.
