MnDOT plans for Cedar Ave. weekend closure starting Friday night

Northbound Cedar Avenue/Highway 77 will close from Highway 13 to Interstate 494 starting at 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. All southbound Hwy 77 lanes will remain open.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), the same closure is scheduled for the following weekend, May 20-23.

The closures are part of the Highway 77/ Cedar Avenue construction project in Bloomington, Richfield and Minneapolis. MnDOT is resurfacing Highway 77 pavement between the Minnesota River and Lake Nokomis through the fall of 2022.

There is a posted detour using northbound I-35E, westbound I-494 and northbound Highway 77 to get around the closure.

Northbound Cedar Avenue/Highway 77 will close from Highway 13 to Interstate 494 starting at 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. 

The following ramps will also be closed from 8 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday:

  • East Old Shakopee Road to northbound Highway 77 

Detour route: East Old Shakopee Road, 24th Avenue South, 77th Street, Longfellow Avenue, East 66th Street and northbound Highway 77

  • Cliff Road to northbound Highway 77
  • Diffley Road to northbound Highway 77
  • Highway 13 to northbound Highway 77

Follow the detour routes for the ramp closures: Northbound I-35E, westbound I-494 and northbound Highway 77.
