I-35W in downtown Minneapolis to close June 3-6

Interstate 35W will close in both directions between I-94 and Hwy 280 starting Friday, June 3 at 10 p.m. to Monday, June 6 at 5 a.m.

The closure is due to the removal of the Seventh Street and Eighth Street bridge.

In addition, 13th Avenue will close between Seventh Street and Eighth Street in downtown Minneapolis.

All entrance ramps to southbound Highway 55/Hiawatha Avenue between I-94 and Highway 280 will also close.

The ramp from westbound I-94 to downtown Minneapolis will close on Sunday, June 5.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), following the I-35W weekend closure, the Seventh Street bridge from northbound Hwy 55/Hiawatha Avenue into downtown Minneapolis will remain closed through late September.

A detour route is in place using northbound Highway 55/Hiawatha Avenue, Third Street, Portland Avenue and Seventh Street.
