I-94 lane closures begin Monday in Washington Co.

Construction crews will be on I-94 starting Monday in Washington County to reinforce roadway shoulders for a new resurfacing project.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), long-term alternating lane closures will be on eastbound I-94 between Woodbury and Lakeland starting Monday through late October.

Traffic will be down to two lanes during that time frame.

As of this time, no ramp closures are expected in that stretch for 2022.

In 2023, work will be done on I-94 between the St. Croix River and Highway 120/Century Avenue over a two-and-a-half-year span to improve the pavement in that area.

Work is expected to be done in three stages, according to MnDOT, with most of the work happening in 2023 and 2024.
