Minneapolis’ Aquatennial celebration is set to return Wednesday with the CenterPoint Energy Torchlight Parade.

Last year’s event was canceled due to the pandemic, although some virtual activities were created.

Heroes of health care within the community will serve as Grand Marshals for Wednesday night’s parade, which begins at 7:30 p.m.

Dozens of festive floats and colorful displays are expected, and other performances and activities are slated to start along the route starting at 6 p.m.

The parade route runs on Nicollet Mall from 12th Street to Fourth Street. It is free and open to everyone.

Fireworks are also set to return this year, as part of the Aquatennial. They are set to begin at 10 p.m. on Saturday and can be enjoyed along the Mississippi Riverfront between the Guthrie Theater and Third Avenue.

More information on the Aquatennial can be found online.
