MDH: 21 new COVID-19 deaths, 1,684 new cases

Sunday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported 21 new deaths from COVID-19, as well as 1,684 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests.

Of the 1,684 newly reported cases, two were noted as probable cases, and 1,682 were confirmed cases, according to MDH.

So far, 2,349 people have died of the coronavirus in Minnesota. Fourteen of those deaths are also listed as probable COVID-19 deaths.

To date, 9,511 COVID-19 patients have been hospitalized in Minnesota and 2,538 patients have been in the ICU.

According to MDH, the 1,684 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests in Minnesota on Sunday moved the state’s total to 133,802 since pandemic record-keeping began.

A total of 371 probable cases have been reported since antigen testing began.

Meanwhile, a total of 118,485 patients have recovered, or are recovering, and no longer need isolation, according to MDH.

As of Sunday, more than 2.6 million Minnesotans have been tested for COVID-19.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected more than 42.7 million people worldwide and killed over 1.1 million people.

More than 28.8 million people worldwide have recovered as of Sunday.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.
