Bay Scroggins - Reporter

 

”I believe in being fair and accurate, and always taking the time to listen,” says Bay Scroggins. “I strive to be a news source that the viewers can trust.”


Previous experience
Bay started at 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS in June 2008 after spending five years at WZVN-TV in Fort Myers, Florida, as anchor/reporter.  Prior to that he was anchor/reporter/meteorologist at KXXV-TV in Waco, Texas, from 2002 to 2003.  He also spent some time in Greenville, North Carolina, at WNCT-TV as producer/meteorologist from 1999 to 2002.

Education
Bay received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication, with a concentration in Media Performance, from East Carolina University.  He also received a Broadcast Meteorology Certificate from Mississippi State University.

Awards
In 2007, Bay received first place for Best Public Affairs program from the Florida Associated Press.

Career highlights
Bay has covered several hurricanes, including Floyd, Charley, Frances, Jenne, Katrina and Wilma.  He has also covered the Columbia tragedy and presidential visits to Crawford, Texas.


Personal interests
Bay enjoys spending time with his wife and two dogs.  In his spare time he landscapes his home, drools over sports cars and visits the Caribbean islands.
