Previous experience
Maggie started at 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS in June 2008. She came to the Twin Cities from WBBH-TV in Fort Myers, Florida, where she was a reporter from December 2004 to May 2008. Prior to that she was a reporter / producer / anchor at WVIR-TV in Charlottesville, Virginia, for two years. But she fell in love with television news while she was an intern/newswriter at WRIC-TV in Richmond, Virginia.
Education
Maggie received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in English and Government from the College of William and Mary in Virginia. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
Awards received
In 2007, Maggie received the Florida Associated Press Award for Best Continuing Coverage for a yearlong investigation that led to the arrest of a city councilman and his removal from office by the governor.
Career highlights
Maggie has covered the ever-changing Florida weather, including hurricanes, brush fires and tornados, including the 2007 Groundhog Day tornado that killed 21 people in central Florida. She has also covered the rescue of a baby manatee that was stranded in a neighborhood canal.
Personal interests
Maggie enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs, Gatsby and Bailey. After spending four winters in Florida, Maggie is looking forward to seeing snow once again. She also enjoys curling up with a good book and enjoying the summer sunshine. “I guess I’ll be trading in a day at the beach for a day at the lake,” Maggie says about her transition from Florida to Minnesota.
