Steve Shaw - Reporter

 

“I’m excited to be in the Twin Cities market,” says Steve Shaw.  “Minnesotans are some of the best folks in America.”


Previous experience
Steve joined 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS in March 2007.  He spent 10 years at WDAF-TV in Kansas City, Missouri, as a reporter.  Before that, he was a reporter in Fort Myers, Florida, and Savannah, Georgia.  After college, Steve spent a year with WYFF-TV in Greenville, South Carolina.  The next four years were as news/sports photographer/producer with WTOG-TV in St. Petersburg, Florida and with WFLA-TV in Tampa, Florida.

Education
Steve received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he was on the Dean’s List.

Career highlights
In 1993, Steve covered the Super Bowl in Pasadena, California.  He spent a week in the Florida Everglades covering the aftermath of the ValuJet disaster in 1996, and in 2002
he covered the trial of serial killer John Robinson in a Kansas courtroom.  After Hurricane Katrina, Steve helped a displaced New Orleans man find a home, job and car in Kansas City.  Steve has also covered the aftermath of numerous tornadoes that touched down in Missouri and Kansas.

Personal interests
Steve is a sports fanatic.  He grew up in the same town as former Minnesota Viking wide receiver great Leo Lewis in Columbia, Missouri.
