Susanna Song - Reporter
 |
“I love interacting with Minnesotans,” says Susanna. “Everyone has a story to share. I hope I can be their mouthpiece to shed light on truth and beauty.” |
Previous experience
Susanna joined 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS in February 2007. She came to the Twin Cities from WEEK-TV in Peoria-Bloomington, Illinois where she worked as a general assignment reporter, fill-in news anchor, weather anchor and health reporter. Susanna was also a freelance anchor/host at Events News Network TV and the Korean Broadcasting Station in Chicago.
Career highlights
In her five years as a journalist, Susanna's favorite stories have been local stories with an international twist. In 2006, she traveled to a remote village in the Andes Mountains in Ecuador with a central Illinois church on a mission to help an indigenous group of Quichua Indians receive access to clean running water. Two years later, Susanna went to Korea to follow a Minnesota man who was a Korean adoptee searching for his birth mom. She captured his journey - 37 years from when he was given up to the day he reunited with her in Korea. Suanna is currently the Vice President of the Minnesota chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association.
Education
Susanna graduated from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism with a major in broadcast journalism and a minor in religion. While in college, Susanna worked for the Northwestern News Network and the college radio station.
Awards
Susanna received the Leonard Perryman Communications Scholarship for excellence in journalism during college.
